Don’t Stop Believing – Genesis 15:1

In this inspiring sermon, “Don’t Stop Believing,” we delve into Genesis 15:1 to explore the profound message of faith and trust in God’s promises. God’s word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” This powerful message challenges us to hear God’s voice, ask questions in faith, and believe in His promises even before they come to pass.

Challenge: Don’t Stop Believing

A. FAITH HEARS FROM GOD

Verse 1: “After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.’”

God’s word to Abram addresses the deep concerns of his heart, providing comfort and reassurance. Whether through a thunderous voice or a still small whisper, God’s word is powerful and paramount. In a world filled with various voices, it’s crucial to tune into the right one—God’s voice.

B. FAITH ASKS QUESTIONS

Verses 2-3: Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless, and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?”

It’s okay to ask questions and seek understanding from God, just as Abram did. When we approach God with respect, acknowledging His sovereignty, we can present our concerns and uncertainties, trusting that He is in control.

C. FAITH BELIEVES BEFORE IT SEES

Verses 4-6: “Then the word of the Lord came to him: ‘This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.’ He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.’ Then he said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.’ Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.”

Faith involves believing in God’s power and promises before they are fulfilled. Just as Abram believed God’s promise of countless descendants, we too must trust in God’s word, even when the fulfillment seems impossible.

Join us as we explore these timeless truths and encourage one another to keep believing in God’s promises, no matter the circumstances.
