Devotional thought
Every day, at any point within that day, there are people coming to grips with the amazing and marvelous reality of a loving God who loves them! It is an awesome thing to consider the love of God and how wonderful His attributes are towards us. I pray that you take time regularly to reflect upon these things too.
When we choose to dedicate time and effort to remember what it is that we have been delivered from, we too will stand in awe and amazement. That a Holy God would even consider me, that He would put Himself into my place and take my punishment upon Himself is far too great a thing for me to comprehend. Yet, when I consider these truths I can only respond with a deep sense of worship from a heart of gratitude!
Ps 32:11 tells those who are godly, those who are morally upright, to rejoice! To shout for joy and be happy. This is the joy of the ages, to celebrate the heroic work of a selfless Savior to deliver us and to make us holy in His sight! This truly is something to celebrate, and I believe with all my heart that this art of rejoicing is critical in our walk of faith!
Many of us need to be reminded of the importance of standing in awe of who God is and what He has done for us! I remember in 2007 reading a question from a Men’s devotional Bible that convicted me very deeply – to the point of tears and repentance. It simply asked, “Have you lost your wonder for God?”. That question, along with John 10, initiated a transformation experience of repentance for me, and I pray that you too will be moved in your heart to see God for who He is and what He done for you!
Transformation is right on the other side of Awe and Wonder at the Marvelous nature of God Almighty!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, You are the Joy of all ages. You are the purpose of my worship, and the One in whom I stand amazed. I still can’t understand fully the transaction that led to my salvation, but I love You for it! I trust that what you did, Jesus, has bought my absolute forgiveness and I praise You for that Lord! Please help me to have a spirit of rejoicing and to be able to express my gratitude to You through shouts of joy! I want to spread the joy of all ages in my age right now. Holy Spirit, please help me to do this for Your Name’s sake. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
