Devotional thought
I think when we read through Revelation in the Bible, we can gain a great perspective of why we offer our praises to God! Of course it isn’t limited to Revelation, the whole of the Bible in fact is a great resource to go to when wondering why to offer our praises (hallelujah’s) to the God of the universe.
Let’s provide a definition for the term that I will be using in this devotional that expresses the highest form of praise – hallelujah. According to the New Naive’s Topical Bible, Hallelujah is an exclamatory expression of praise or adoration. In the Psalms (and the rest of Scripture) God is praised for His power, His wisdom, His blessings, and the liberation of His people.
Now, this last phrase is what is particularly intriguing about why we would offer our hallelujah to the Lord. Our Liberation! I think many of us fail to understand the depth of the work of God in our life, because we are very much unaware of the depth of freedom we have now in Christ!
It is those of us who were once in bondage to many different forms of sins and are now overcoming by the grace given by Christ, we are the ones whose praises should be the loudest! We are the ones who know that our God is absolutely worthy to receive our highest forms of praise! Hallelujah’s in the form of speech, and hallelujah’s in the form of a holy life dedicated to righteousness in Christ Jesus! It is all praise and should be done on a regular basis.
In Revelation 5 we see the Lion of Judah being worshipped because He was found worthy to open the scroll. Check out the response of the elders in verse 9:
They were singing a new song: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were killed, and at the cost of your own blood you have purchased for God persons from every tribe, language, people, and nation.

So, is Christ worthy of our hallelujah? I believe that anyone willing to purchase another freedom by His own blood is worthy of praise, especially the One whose death resulted in eternal life for all who believe in Him – Jesus Christ! He is worthy, so don’t hold back. Offer your hallelujah even now!
Prayer
Oh Lord, my God. I praise Your matchless name and offer You my hallelujah. I desire Your name to be exalted in my life. Your grace and blood has covered me and provided the ability for me to be an overcomer in this world! Thank You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
