Daily Devotional

Beautiful are the psalms that transcend time as they speak to our situation and especially our soul.

“Vindicate me.” When or has there ever been a time we needed this from God? I was reminded of Revelation 12:10, “And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, ‘Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.’”

It’s easy to look and think about ourselves when we read a psalm, especially this one as we cry to God for help.

However, the resolution is in verse 3. We need to be led back to God’s Holiness and Truth so that we can go back to the Throne of Grace in confidence and trust that Jesus is our Defender, Lord, and Saviour.

Since the accuser Satan is at work day and night, our ability to abide in God’s Grace depends on our relationship and knowledge of the Holy One amid our plight and situation.

Therefore, brothers and sisters in Christ, my encouragement to you is to develop the fear of the Lord. It is this reverence that enables you to stand unshaken even as persecution, rejection, betrayal, chaos, and all things of the world shake, as you believe you are a child of God, saved by Grace. You form your allegiance with our Triune God. You fully humble your being and allow yourself to boast only in His Name. You are delighted knowing in this suffering, Jesus’s Grace magnifies, and you are sharing in His Sorrow that He gave up Himself at Calvary for all of us, small or big. Whatever life throws at us, we have our Elohim (God) with us!

Prayer:
Thank You O God that You are using the time of silence and solitude to send me Your Light and Faithful Care that lead me to the place where You dwell.

Reflection Questions:

  • Am I discouraged with how my circumstances can sometimes impact my faith?
  • What are some good way to humble yourself before God in times like this?

Scripture Reading

Psalm 43:1-3

Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked. You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell.”

  1. “For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.”

Today in my Bible reading I read about the rebellion of Korah in Numbers 16. He felt he could rise above Moses, Aaron and God, and place himself as priest. It is better to have God raise us up, and place where He wants us. It did not go well for Korah and his followers.
