Devotional thought
Do you remember that day when the Light of the World was revealed to you? That hour when the Lord became real to you and you could no longer resist His salvation? That day when your aimless wonderings ceased, when the darkness of your life dissolved into the revelation of Jesus Christ, that day when your spiritual blindness was overcome by the blessed healing that brought your spiritual sight!
I am a Bluegrass nut, and I love to introduce these songs of joy in our set lists on Sundays! You can just feel the Spirit lifting people’s hearts, helping us to express our gratitude for the wonderful work of transformation in our lives! Whenever I am feeling depression or despair setting itself into my mindsets, I usually will sit down with my guitar, or play a playlist of songs that are Bluegrass genre. There is just something about the organic, authentic element of these songs that helps me to express my praise to the Lord more freely.
I am reminded so quickly about how God healed my blindness and transformed my life through the Gospel of the Light of life coming into this world to save me when I sing this song! I hope it does the same for you!
The Scripture tells us to encourage each other with these words,
Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
1 Thess 4:17
This is only possible because Jesus Christ came in like a stranger in the night and saved us! He forgave our sins and is now the Light in our lives that is casting out all darkness! For this reason we can truly say, “When I die, I will fly away to be with the Lord forever! Praise the Lord, I saw the Light and He saved me forever! Hallelujah!”
Questions for Reflection
- Do you ever look for ways to freely express your gratitude for God for saving you and revealing the Light of the world to you?
- Are you confident that you will truly fly away to meet the Lord in the air when He returns?
- Have you forgotten how it felt when you seen the Light for the first time? Will you remind yourself even now of your testimony?
Prayer
Light of the World, Jesus Christ, I praise You for saving me. I praise You for revealing Yourself to me as the Light! I thank You that I am no longer blind, that my sins are forgiven, and that one day I will fly away to meet You in the air! God, thank You for blessing me with spiritual healing for my blindness. Please help me to reflect Your light to a lost world around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
