Devotional thought
In Psalm 51:17 we see David crying out to the Lord and saying, “a broken (humble) and repentant spirit You will not reject”. God loves brokenness, He loves when we come to Him humbly seeking to restore our lives through Him. When we have pride we reject God and He rejects us. He turns from prideful people, but He gives grace to the humble, as it says in James 4:6.
Brokenness is one of those attractive characteristics that perfectly aligns us to be able to receive what the Lord has in store for us. It is us saying, “I can’t do it anymore”, and it requires faith! Brokenness says, “Lord I need you”, and it helps us to admit that we are not God.
I don’t know if you are broken today, but I want you to know that it’s OK and perfectly fine for you to cry out to God right now! Say to Him, “I surrender all to you Lord Jesus!”. Some of the most defining moments of my life was when I made that statement in times of need to God!
Gracefully Broken is a great song to remind us of how our weakness can position us to receive God’s power. When in our weakness we call out to God‘s intervention then we will see the mighty hand of God coming in and delivering us from our trials and circumstances. All to Jesus we surrender, and when we do we align ourselves with His redeeming power. And there is no greater force in all of the universe than that!
Matt 5:3 says: “
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.”
So, there is no shame for the broken, only grace to receive all of the Kingdom of Heaven!
Prayer
Oh God, I praise You for being full of grace and responding to my brokenness with compassion and love. Please forgive me when I operate in pride and resist surrender. I want to remain dependent upon Your strength at work in me, and I choose to stay humble before You now. I need You Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen
