Sometimes we just need to validate our spouse’s feelings. Listen without interrupting, empathize, understand, care, give them a hug. However, sometimes our response goes to parceling out fixes or just saying, “You shouldn’t feel that way”. I know I’m guilty of this as a guy. It’s so simple, “Don’t feel that way” as if that’s cased closed and problem solved. Listen without cutting your spouse off, or jumping to conclusions, or judging them for what they’re saying.
