Devotional thought
There can be situations and trials that we are facing in our lives that can cause doubt to creep up, and it begins to affect the way in which we see our God. If we are not careful, we may allow the physical circumstances of our life to inform our theological understanding of God.
Remind yourself that as long as Jesus Christ is alive in Heaven you have nothing to fear! Do not despair! Hold onto the hope that comes when you choose to trust in His name and make Him the song in your “night” moments! Trust is a choice and we will be much better off if we choose to allow God to be God, and surrender our circumstances over to His control. Instead of being resolved to “take control”, why don’t we choose to release control to the Lord?
The delivering strength of our God was fully realized in Jesus Christ, so make Him your song in the night! Those “night” moments of life do not have to define us! We will have them, and when we do let’s not look to anything else but Christ Jesus in those moments and take courage that He will guide us through them by His strength! Resolve to trust Jesus because when you do He will keep you in perfect peace (see Isa 26:3), and we all want peace, right?
Questions for Reflection
- In the night moments of your life, are you able to call upon the Lord and trust that He will protect and uphold you through it?
- Are you able to choose faith over fear when things get difficult?
- Do you believe that God is able to deliver, and that He is still good even if you don’t get the deliverance you thought you needed?
Prayer
Holy Father, I do trust You and know that You are able to do far more than I can ask or even imagine. I worship You for all the ways that You have proven to be good in my life already, and I will trust You to do the same in the future. Please forgive me for doubting You, for choosing fear over faith at times, for not releasing control over to You at times. I repent, and I declare that you are my God and I trust You from now on. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
