Marriage Minute: Understanding

Men are told to live with their wives in an understanding way. We are all told to speak the truth in love, so communication is important. If our spouse seems distant or grumpy, perhaps there’s a reason and we’re involved in that somehow. Try to understand it. If you put your arm around your wife and she moves away, maybe her neck hurts. We might take it as rejection but there might we something else going on. It’s good to seek to understand and it’s good to communicate what we think. A friend nicely told me they didn’t like something I suggested and I love that straightforward approach! Might as well state what you think plainly and simply and then I know. I’m not typically offended by the truth because I see a lot of value in it. But not everyone enjoys having teeth drilled without Novocain lol, so tact does have an important place. But I want the truth straight up, so communicate your likes and dislikes with your spouse! If you don’t like steak and I’m about to grill you a steak, might as well tell me right now so I can switch to tofu! Or whatever it is that non-steak eaters are into. I say that tongue in cheek of course! But you get my drift! We have endless problems at times because we aren’t communicating! Have a good weekend and enjoy this fall weather!! ~~ Bill

Joseph

Have you ever wondered what things were like for Jesus’ step-father Joseph? In today’s episode of the Way to Go Podcast, Bill McMinn and Steve Arsulic explain it for us.
God bless you!
Joy in Today’s World?
Joy is that type of disposition that is not dependent upon the feelings we have (although the dictionary States that it is a “feeling” of great pleasure), but upon the choices we make daily to remain hopeful and dependent upon our Savior Jesus Christ. In the Christmas story found in Luke chapter 2, when the Angel appeared to the Shepherds he told them not to be afraid because he brings them good news that will bring great joy to many people (Luke 2:8-14). The Shepherds had a choice to make right then on whether to believe this angel, remain fearful, or to take courage and be filled with joy at the message he was giving them. the message was this, “Today your Savior is born in the city of David. He is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:11). This was what was to bring great joy to many people!
MARRIAGE MINUTE: You’ve Got This!

I see many comments on social media about people being overwhelmed, ticked off, grumpy, and stressed out. There are difficulties, but as the Bible teaches, we are more than conquerors! Let’s not allow problems to rob us of the peace and joy of this Christmas season! God is with us and we are more than conquerors!! You’ve got this! The Christmas season is a prime time for Christians to shine with joy, happiness, smiles, love, and peace! Is that what people are seeing from you? Is that what your spouse and family experiences? At this time of year, may we light the way!! (Matthew 1:23; Luke 2:14; Romans 8:31, 35-37). Have a great weekend – love you all ~~ Bill
