Come to the Well – John 4:4

READ: John 4:4
CHALLENGE: Encounter God
A. GOD WORKS IN DAILY LIFE
Vv4-9 – Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. There’s a well credited to Jacob. It’s noon.
1.God Works in Hostile
2.God Works in the Daily Grind
3.God Works to Bridges Barriers
4.God Works Through Common Analogies from Life
Isaiah 64:7 – No one calls on your name or strives to lay hold of you; our sins. God tells them, you’re not even trying! There is a well but we need to come to the well. Have we had that encounter with God? Do we seek?
Psalm 42:1-2, 5 – As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.?V5 – Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
B. OUR MESSED UP WORLD NEEDS A DEEP SPIRITUAL CONNECTION TO GOD.
Vv10-14 – Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”13 Jesus answered, .”15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”17 “I have no husband,” she replied..”
Revelation 21:6 – He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.
14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
He offers living water for free! Come to the well!
Transformational Power

What a chilling but true commentary on the sin nature that is within us. All have fallen and come short of the glory of God. We all are in need of the savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!

CHALLENGE: Experience a New Life
A. WE NEED SPIRIT FILLING BECAUSE WE’RE EMPTY (vv1-2)
Vv1-2 – Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
1. Empty of Good
John 2:23-25- Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. . It’s interesting that in the immediate context of Nicodemus visiting Jesus, we have Jesus saying that he entrusted himself to no one. He didn’t because he knew what was in their hearts already and because of that, He couldn’t entrust Himself to them.
Paul said this, Romans 7:18 – For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
Romans 3:9-12 – What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands;there is no one who seeks God.12 All have turned away, not even one.”
2. Empty of True Satisfaction
Who is Nicodemus? He’s a Pharisee!
3. Empty of Deep Meaning
B. WE NEED TO OPEN UP TO SPIRITUAL THINGS
1. Seek Jesus in the Dark
2. Respect Christ’s Teachings
2 Timothy 2:15 – Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Do we see Christ as a source of truth?
3. Don’t Ignore the Spiritual Signs
C. WE NEED A SPIRITUAL REBIRTH
V3 – Jesus replied, .
1. Born Again Is Entrance into God’s Kingdom
2. Religion Isn’t Salvation
Vv4-7 – “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”5 “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.[c] must be born again.’
According to Ephesians 2, we’re spiritually dead and we need this birth from above. We need a heavenly intervention.
3. Spiritually Directed
V8 – The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So, it is with everyone born of the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is compared to the wind. The wind blows wherever it pleases.
We NEED the Holy Spirit to help us through. We need the influence to move people. It’s also a way that God can be felt in a way that we can sense His presence. God is Spirit and the Spirit is moving. There’s a steady Spirit influence in life for the believer. Think of it like wind – constant influence. ·

Staying Strong In A Crisis – Isaiah 7:1-2

READ: Isaiah 7:1-2 CHALLENGE: Stand Strong in Faith
A.FACE YOUR PROBLEMS BRAVELY
Vv1-2 – When Ahaz son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, was king of Judah, King Rezin of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel marched up to fight against Jerusalem, but they could not overpower it. 2 Now the house of David was told, “Aram has allied itself with[a] Ephraim”;
B.KEEP CALM
Vv3-4 – Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out, you and your son Shear-Jashub,[b] to meet Ahaz at the end of the aqueduct of the Upper Pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field. 4 Say to him, ‘Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart because of these two smoldering stubs of firewood—because of the fierce anger of Rezin and Aram and of the son of Remaliah.
1.Be Careful
2 Chronicles 28:20-21 – Tiglath-Pileser[c] king of Assyria came to him, but he gave him trouble instead of help. 21 Ahaz took some of the things from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace and from the officials and presented them to the king of Assyria, but that did not help him.
2.Keep Calm
2 Peter 2:23 – When they hurled their insults at him,.
3.Don’t Be Afraid
Isaiah 40:29 – He gives strength to the wearyand increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,.
4.Don’t Lose Heart
C. FACE FEARS WITH FAITH
Vv6-8 – Aram, Ephraim and Remaliah’s son have plotted your ruin, saying, 6 “Let us invade Judah; let us tear it apart and divide it among ourselves, and make the son of Tabeel king over it.”
Within sixty-five years.
1.Don’t Fear What People Are Saying
People say a lot of things and they may want to trip you up. But God is sovereign. I love God saying “It will not take place, it will not happen”. People say a lot of things, what does God say?
· People might say you’re not beautiful enough, God says you’re wonderfully and fearfully made!
· People might say you’re not good – God says you’re forgiven!
· People might say give up but God says, don’t grow weary in well doing!
· People might say you’re SO LOST, Jesus says, Follow Me
· Some might say you have no future and you’ll never succeed! God says, “I know the plans I have for you”!
2.Stand in Faith
V9 – The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is only Remaliah’s son. If you do not stand firm in your faith,.’”
Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign:will conceive and give birth to a son, will call him Immanuel.
