God called Ezekiel to be a watchman over Israel, one who would see the things that are going to happen and relay them faithfully to the people. The job was hard because speaking to your own people is intimidating and when they are disobedient and idolatrous it makes matters worse. Yet Ezekiel was stoic in communicating both good and bad news to God’s people.
A recurrent theme in this book is the glory of God. When Israel was taken captive by enemy lands, the glory of Israel as a country disappeared or so they thought. God reveals though, through his prophets that He is the glory of Israel. Even during the hardest seasons of exile, suffering and loss, God was with them. He had never left. He was grieved with his people turning away from Him and he disciplined them out of his great love. God’s glory continues to fill the earth and for those who love Him and follow Him his glory rests on us. Even in the most dark seasons of the soul, his glory will be undiminished in our lives, if we stay mindful and committed to loving Him.
Questions to ask yourself:
Am I able to see and enjoy the Glory of God in nature and around me?
Where has God’s glory been evident in my life this year?
Scripture Reading
Ezekiel 3:16-17
At the end of seven days the word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.
Ezekiel 3:22-27
The hand of the LORD was on me there, and he said to me, “Get up and go out to the plain, and there I will speak to you.” So I got up and went out to the plain. And the glory of the LORD was standing there, like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I fell facedown. Then the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet. He spoke to me and said: “Go, shut yourself inside your house. And you, son of man, they will tie with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people. I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth so that you will be silent and unable to rebuke them, for they are a rebellious people. But when I speak to you, I will open your mouth and you shall say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says.’ Whoever will listen let them listen, and whoever will refuse let them refuse; for they are a rebellious people.
Habakkuk 2:14
For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
Isaiah 60:1
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.

Being a runner I get to witness God’s glory in nature daily. The sunrise, sunsets, the lake both with the waves and ice formations. The deer, eagles and cardinals. The list is long. I love his artistic works and feeling his presence. I have also been blessed by his glory with my willingness to serve him and others. I get to watch new lives begin as the bonds of addiction, and mental illness are broken. I get to pray with and for these people. God is working in a mighty way. I chose to see the blessings❤️🙏😇
As the weather breaks, I spend many mornings looking out over the lake in amazement at Gods glory. It is where I can be still especially on a Sunday morning before service either talking to him or listening to a few praise songs.. It sets my heart for the day to lets me know God is with me through the good and the challenges. In addition I see the sun setting over the lake which allows me to acknowledge his presence and thank him.
I love how close I feel to God when I take the time to walk in our beautiful nature spots. Whenever I am immersed in the woods I pray to see God’s face and hear His voice around me. My brother and I spent time at the Morgan swamp last Friday during our Friday fasting. It was amazing. We took turns praying for the people in our church family struggling with different health issues. I feel closest to our Creator when I am in His creation
Me and my son, love to hike. I have seen some beautiful country. Like Glacier National park. We have spots close to home that is beautiful as well. This makes me think if his creation on earth is so beautiful, I don’t think I can imagine what heaven will be like.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
