Daily Devotional

Noah was a man who walked in habitual fellowship with God (AMP version). He was just and blameless in a time (much like today) when evil prevailed and wickedness held sway. God chose him out of a vast number of humans to be set apart, saved, and repopulate the earth after a flood of apocalyptic proportions. This was no ordinary call- it was downright absurd. imagine buildings a huge boat in the middle of a city in full view of people who had no concept of God. He was definitely exposed to mockery and ridicule by those around yet he stayed faithful to the God who had spoken to him. He obeyed every instruction to the last letter and he, along with his wife and sons’ families, is saved along with 2 pairs of every living creature. What an adventure! What a daring task for one man and his family to take on! Yet they did, and in exchange God makes Noah a promise that he will never again destroy the earth by a flood.

Like Noah, each of us has been created and called by God for a specific purpose on this earth. It depends on whether we are tuned into His frequency so that we can hear the call and respond to it in complete obedience just like Noah did.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • What has God spoken to you in recent times?
  • Have you been obedient to his instruction?
  • Will you make a conscious choice to walk in habitual fellowship with God?

Scripture Reading

Genesis 6:9-12

This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God. Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

Genesis 6:17-22

I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark—you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you. You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. You are to take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them.” Noah did everything just as God commanded him.

2 Samuel 15:22-23

David said to Ittai, “Go ahead, march on.” So Ittai the Gittite marched on with all his men and the families that were with him. The whole countryside wept aloud as all the people passed by. The king also crossed the Kidron Valley, and all the people moved on toward the wilderness.

  1. Lately, God has been calling us to trust Him more deeply in an area to surrender— to walk in faith, not fear, just as He called Noah to step into the unknown. My husband and I sense His leading to move from simply planning to fully stepping into our purpose. He’s prompting us to downsize, simplify, and lighten our load so that we can be more available to shine His light. The past few years have been marked by deep loss—losing loved ones, battling cancer—but through it all, God has remained our anchor. In the midst of grief and uncertainty, He has been our steady foundation. Now, He is calling us to live out His love in everyday places, bringing His light into the world in tangible ways.

    1. I’m hearing something similar, use what you got ! I’m really making an effort to not buy fresh and use the pantry ! I can’t believe how much money and resources I waste !

  2. I struggle sometimes with if I am doing the right thing, on certain situations in my life. I ask God to help me with dealing with certain things that may not be his will, but also if it is his will to keep the desire in me and help me push through fear and adversity. I can say that I do have peace when I put it in his hands instead of worrying about it. There is a peace knowing he knows what is right for me. That’s were faith comes in. He has never let me down this far.

  3. I struggle with my obedience daily. I work in a detox unit and it is very stressful. I love my Pt.’s and I know that God uses me in a mighty way. I am able to be his hands and feet and a vessel he speaks through. I struggle with staying as my company is like most, worldly and about the money. I have got to witness so many lives changed. I have been able to share Jesus with those I know believe. Having prayer time when they ask me to pray for them I pray with them. I was told I could not talk about God but I said I have to because it is only because of God I have overcome my addiction and have new life. I just ask and make sure the Pt. Wants to talk about God and they give me permission to do so. So I go to work but I hit my knees before leaving and I pray over the building as well as those who work there, reside there and the company. I will go until God no longer needs me there
