Jesus stood before Pilate who was determined to not get too involved in His sentencing. When cross-questioning Jesus he asked Him if He was a King and Jesus replied by saying that he came to the earth to testify to the truth and that everyone who was on the side of truth would listen to Him. Pilate in retort says “What is truth?” If each of us were asked that same question imagine the variety of answers we get. We live in a world of no absolutes. Nothing is black and white because grey feels safer. The truth has gotten diluted and foggy because of a murky culture with ever-changing realities. The truth though is a person. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. On knowing Jesus personally, he begins to transform the various parts of our life and bring them into union with Him. This union is so intimate and organic, that we start to think like Jesus, we start to act like Him and we start to see others like Him. We are never the same – all because the truth has set us free to really live!
To live a life of wholeness, integrity and influence right where God has placed you.
Questions to ask yourself:
Am I being honest before God?
Is the truth of His word shaping my life or is culture shaping my life?
Scripture Reading
John 18:28-37
Then the Jewish leaders took Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor. By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness they did not enter the palace, because they wanted to be able to eat the Passover. So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?” “If he were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed him over to you.” Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” “But we have no right to execute anyone,” they objected. This took place to fulfill what Jesus had said about the kind of death he was going to die. Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?” “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
John 8:32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

“ Nothing is black and white because gray feels safer. Truth has been diluted and foggy because of a murky culture and ever-changing realities.” What is truth?, Pilate asks. John 14:6 “I (Jesus) Am the Way, the TRUTH and the life.” Lord Jesus, reveal to me and move me out of any way I am “in the gray” …….of insidious ways I am slipping into this pagan culture; to know Your Truth through Your Word, and grant me boldness and courage to speak and live it.
