Do You Know the Savior Who Loves You? Worship Devotional

Song of the Day

“My Savior, My God” by Aaron Schust

Devotional thought

I love the opening line to our song of the day, “I am not skilled to understand what God has willed, what God has planned.” How many times have we been tempted to forget the love and faithfulness of God because we are caught up in a difficult situation in our life? We try to understand and answer the unanswerable “why” questions, but it would be much better for us to surrender to the “why” questions and choose to simply trust that God has a plan and is executing it perfectly!

The best way to get to that point where we can simply trust our God’s plan is to trust in the revealed truth of what God has and is doing for us! The very next part of the song states this, “I only know at His right hand stands One who is MY Savior.”. This is the Truth of God’s plan for us, He provided a Savior for me and you!

The key is that we need to KNOW Jesus Christ, that Savior we are singing about, personally before we can trust Him fully! And, one of my favorite things about our song of the day is how it puts a confession of faith on our lips. A declaration that states the Truth we believe; “My Savior lives, my Savior loves, My Savior’s always there for me.”

Many people know of a Savior, but are failing to truly know the Savior personally. Jesus says in John 10 that His sheep, His followers, know Him and He knows them. Not only that, but they follow Him! To know the Savior who loves us is to follow Him with all of our heart, to trust Him, and to surrender ourselves to His Lordship.

Let’s take Him at His Word; Christ died to save us, to show us the love He has for us, and to give us an eternal hope!

Prayer

My Savior and My God, I praise You for truth! I praise You for not leaving me orphaned, without hope in this world. I ask that You help me to continually trust You as I face various trials in my life. Holy Spirit, please keep me from wandering and help me to stay focused on my Savior, Jesus Christ. In His Name I pray, amen.
