Devotional thought

I believe that it’s inevitable that we will all face desert seasons in life, seasons that we feel dry and lifeless and need a rejuvenation from a source that is other than us. This is the natural flow of life, and I don’t think that we need to overthink our spirituality, or lack thereof, in these moments. We have to understand that we are human and we need the Life Giver, God Almighty to revive our spirits at times!

I don’t know if you are in that “dry” place right now, a place where you don’t have much more to give. Are you exhausted, maybe you have received a diagnosis that you weren’t prepared for, maybe you are having marital issues that can’t seem to be resolved, the list goes on and on and on! But I do know the One that you can call on which will be your help in a time of need, His name is Jesus Christ.

It is so crucial that in these “dry” moments of life we continue to offer up our praises to the Lord! We have a tendency to slack on praising and worshiping God when we come into trials and tribulations or are exhausted, but this is the very thing to help us overcome these situations.

Praise is our avenue to being revived, our road to recovery, it’s our expression of gratitude even when we don’t feel grateful for anything. It aligns our heart and mind to receive more of what God has in store for us, because it focuses our attention back to Him again. He is our source, He is our strength, He is our life giver, and when we look to Him in praise – rivers of life will come flowing out of us!

So when you need to be revived in your spirit and get a fresh taste of the Holy Spirit in your life, I am going to strongly recommend that you put a praise on your lips and you start offering up your adoration to the God of the universe who loves you and cares for you each day!

Prayer

Oh God, I praise You for being my fresh spring of water in the desert days of my life! I praise You for always being with me, for being trustworthy, and for hearing me when I call to You for help! I repent of neglecting to praise You in various seasons of my life, and I choose now to make praise my first response to trials. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
