Devotional thought

Is it an unthinkable thought to you to consider that the God of the universe laid down His life for your redemption? I love that this song declares this truth so well – Christ is to be praised and glorified for the work of redeeming and saving us!

Glorification is to offer up the highest praise and adoration for something, or someone, who deserves it. The word, Glory, holds a reverent and majestic perspective that inspires praise and worship! It represents “a most glorious condition, a most exalted state,” and the Kingly majesty of the Messiah is the “splendor and brightness” that defines glory!

To give “glory to God” does not give Him something He otherwise lacks. Rather, it is a confession of the wondrous glory He forever possesses.

Luter, A. B. (2017). Luke. In E. A. Blum & T. Wax (Eds.), CSB Study Bible: Notes (p. 1606). Nashville, TN: Holman Bible Publishers.

So, when we offer our hearts in worship to the Lord for His work of redemption, we are then Glorifying Him in the highest form! Worshipful and devoted hearts from mankind is the supreme expression of glory to God. This is the highest form of glory from us to Him. Although God does not need our worship to be glorified, He does absolutely desire it!

Glory to God in the Highest?

The other element of “Glory to God in the Highest” is that He is to be in a place of highest reverence and position in our lives. There can be no one, or no thing, that takes a higher position of authority, dignity, honor, reverence, and worship to those who claim Christ Jesus as their Savior. He is the most exalted (highest, lifted up) representation of true glory we have, and our response of surrendered worship is the only fit and acceptable one to that glory (according to Romans 12:1)!

We sing a lyric in this song that goes like this;

“He has saved us. He has redeemed us.
So let the praise come from our lips, all the honor that is His.”

Are you willing to bring Him all the honor and glory that He deserves through a life of praise and adoration for His act of Redemption in and for you? Begin now to dedicate yourself to His glory through submission to His ways and authority.

Prayer

Dear God in the Highest. l love and praise You for Your redeeming grace in my life. I do give You the highest place in my heart, and I commit myself to living in such a way that You will receive honor and glory from my worshipful lifestyle. Please help me to reflect Your light and glory to those I come into contact with today. In Jesus’ name. Amen
