Devotional thought
Who am I that the highest King would welcome me? This is the opening line from our song today, and I think it is a great question to reflect upon!
Have we ever considered the privilege of being called a child of the Most High King? Does it seem strange to be included in the family of God Almighty? Not only included, but an Heir of all things, adopted with full rights as His children!!
We battle the lies of the enemy that try to tell us that we do not belong, that our sins are too bad to be a child of God, that the love of God doesn’t completely cover us. Satan is relentless to throw those darts of doubt at us, but God’s Word is always there to remind us that they are just lies that must be overcome by the truth! That is why I love 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 so much, check this out:
“for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ.”
2 Cor 10:4-5
I know that the lies can really nag at us, may even penetrate for a season and cause us to live in despair, but God has given us the Spiritual weapons to fight against these lies and to bring them into subjection under the Sovereignty of our Savior!
The truth is that we:
- Do Belong in His Kingdom
- Are called according to His purpose
- Are loved with an everlasting love!
- Are forgiven
- A new creation
- Are more than conquerors in this life
- Are able to do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
- Are Redeemed
- Are His child as we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior
- Have a Father in Heaven that is rejoicing over us with songs of love and deliverance!
This is just a small list of all that we are in Christ! So, please reject the lies of our enemy and live in the true identity that Christ purchased for you on that Cross and through His resurrection! If He died to make us victorious in this world, then let’s live that way!
Prayer
Thank You Lord for being the One who proclaims my identity! I praise You for making me a new creation in Christ, and for giving me the Spirit who is pointing me to the Truth at all times! I couldn’t do it without You, my Father who loves me with an everlasting love! Please continue to remind me of who I am in You Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
