Sometimes we feel like we’re the only moral person left on the planet. The only one doing the right thing. And why does he feel this way?
He’s single in his focus. He’s only looking at what Jezebel is doing and what the threats are. So because of what a person says, he’s all forlorn.
1 Kings 19:10-11 – He replied, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 11 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by. 14 He replied, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too.” 18 Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him.”
He did face the prophets of Baal alone. He was the one who took it on the chin. His life was threatened by Jezebel. But he wasn’t alone. So many other prophets had been killed by Jezebel. Others were in hiding.
It was so dangerous.
