Devotional thought

Sin is a stain that each of us has on our soul that will hinder us from experiencing God in our lives. It is anything that falls short of the glory of God, and if that sounds like a pretty long list it’s because it is! Each one of us has this stain and each one of us needs something to cleanse us of this stain if we have any hope of being able to experience God’s presence.

So what is this cleansing agent that will remove the stain of sin in our lives? It is blood! This seems counter-intuitive right? Blood? Everyone knows that blood stains worse than just about anything else, right? So why would God require blood for the cleansing, or forgiveness, of sins?

Blood is required because it has the price of sacrifice attached to it. Sin MUST be punished, and the punishment for sin is death (see Romans 6:23). God is a just God, and He demands payment for the accumulation of sin’s debt in each of our spiritual accounts. We are bankrupt spiritually with no hope of offering up the perfect propitiation (a big word for pleasing sacrifice) for our sin problem ourselves!

This would be a hopeless situation if Christ had not come into the world and offered Himself as this propitiation in our place! But, HE DID! Jesus Christ offered the sacrifice of His life, the shedding of His blood, to save each one who calls upon His name for forgiveness.

God the Father was perfectly pleased by the unblemished sacrifice Jesus offered in His body. Now when we come to Him through that bloody sacrifice, it cleanses us of sin’s stains as we enter through the covering of Christ’s blood!

What can wash away our sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus Christ! No other sacrifice will suffice! God is pleased and accepts that as the only way to become clean before Him, no other attempt to find complete forgiveness will do.

So, receive the blood of Jesus Christ offered upon the cross for the forgiveness of your sins. Walk in the salvation of God forevermore! If you have received this blessing of forgiveness then please CELEBRATE IT through praising Him. Tell others about the forgiveness you received!

Prayer

Thank You Lord for the forgiveness I have in Jesus Christ! I love You and am so grateful to be able to celebrate my freedom in You! Help me to be grateful all the time and to tell others of this wonderful blood that washes away our sins! In Jesus Name. Amen
