Scripture to reflect upon
Devotional thought
I know that we all face various seasons in our lives, some better and some worse, but I really believe that worshiping through the seasonal changes keeps us centered on the things that really matter and provides hope for us when we are hopeless! Hebrews 12:2 tells us to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus, and the more we can do that by Blessing His Name regardless of our situations will be the level to which we will have stability in our lives. Our worship needs to remain constant throughout the storms, throughout the pain, throughout everything we endure because it reminds us that God is good and faithful no matter what we are going through.
Stories like that of Job should act as an encouragement for us, to follow his example when he was tempted by those he loved to “curse God and die” and he responded with:
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return there. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be blessed!”….But he replied, “….Should we receive what is good from God, and not also receive what is evil?” In all this Job did not sin by what he said.”
Job 1:21 & 2:10 (partial)
That is what I want all of our conviction to be! No matter what, God, I will bless Your name and offer up my praises to You! This is not easy, and it requires a lot of faith and trust in the ultimate plans of God, but it will definitely keep us from sinning against the Lord – just as it did for Job!
Prayer
Lord God, I surrender my trials and circumstances to You, and I choose right now to bless Your Name! Thank You for being my Strong tower that I can run to in my times of trouble and peace! At all times You are my Source, whether in plenty or in want I will praise You. Forgive me God where I have fallen short of this, where I am complaining and grumbling in my situations, and restore a heart of praise in me that chooses to bless Your name no matter what comes! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
