Worship Minute: Wait for God!

Worship Minute: Today I want to encourage you to wait for God in whatever circumstance you are facing. David shows us in Psalm 42 how to work through depression, isolation, and feelings of rejection by God as he continually tells himself that he WILL pray, give thanks, praise, and seek God. I think it is a great model for us to follow as well! May we all be found faithful in saying as David did, “…I long for You, O God! I thirst for God, for the living God…” (Ps. 42:1(b)-2(a)). Have a blessed week ~ Mark
It’s Time: Boast in this

Jeremiah prophesied to a nation that was overconfident in their own wisdom, their military and allies, and in their prosperity and wealth. False prophets and teachers would shout down Jeremiah, and the words of God, and assure the people everything in their life was perfectly fine. God was pleased with them surely by how blessed they were. However, we know this not to be true as exile and judgment were imminent. Instead of boasting or being confident in their own devices, God was instead encouraging the people to be confident in their knowledge and understanding of Him. Salvation and security were found only for those who practiced this understanding with credible evidence of change. Not in what they wanted to believe and hear, or empty words of agreement that led only to unrepentant and uncircumcised hearts. Here, only judgment and punish await…
Marriage Minute: Blessing of Differences

A key in marriage is to remember that differences are a blessing rather than a spot of contention. God made a “helper suitable” for Adam. Someone who “fit” him and complemented him. There are natural differences between men and women that are important, necessary, and a beautiful blessing. But then in your typical marriage, spouses are often different from each other. Of course we have many similarities but not in every single thing! Perhaps the one is more organized and one not so much. One may be on time and the other constantly running late. One neat and the other resembles the Tazmanian Devil. One may be good with money and the other doesn’t pay much attention. I struggled with this early in marriage because it disappointed me when we didn’t see eye to eye. We agreed on so many things that I got to thinking we should agree on everything. I had to learn that the differences were a blessing and I needed to look at it that way. Jeri is more conservative than I am on many things. On the other hand, I’m a risk taker. I’ve brought plenty of fun adventures into the equation and I’ve often wondered what her life would have been like if it weren’t for my nature. On the other hand, she’s reserved and calm and sometimes that’s exactly what the doctor ordered. There are days where I really needed to just hang with her and ….. sit still! Whew is that hard! This goes on and on with couples so where they are weak, you’re strong and visa versa. See it as a blessing and have a great weekend! ~~ Bill

Worship Minute: Evaluation

I had my evaluation done today at work, and it reminded me of the need to evaluate myself in every area of my life, especially spiritually. God is very passionate about us being clean and pure when we come into His presence in prayer and worship, and He lays out some pretty strong words in Isa. 1:11-17 against people who come to Him without first evaluating their lives. “When you spread out your hands in prayer, I look the other way;”, If you are a worshiper who wants to be heard by the Lord then, “Wash! Cleanse yourselves! Remove your sinful deeds from My sight. Stop sinning! Learn to do what is right! Promote justice!” God says, do an evaluation of your life and clean up any areas that need to be cleansed! Confess and repent of your sins and He will be pleased and invite you into His presence. Evaluate how you are approaching God. God bless you! ~ Mark
