It’s Time: Luke 28:14

The proclamation of the birth of Jesus Christ demonstrates there is no one too insignificant or too lowly to be able to receive God’s favor and forgiveness. God chose to make available to a sinful world an opportunity to repent and accept this gift, through Jesus Christ, and find peace! God chose, and we too must choose to repent and believe in faith for the forgiveness of our sins. When we do that, His favor and peace rests on us. What a great truth to celebrate this week!
Marriage Minute: Joy

There is such a thing as Seasonal Associative Disorder or S.A.D. What about seasonal joy? What about the things of this Christmas season lifting our spirits? This is a phenomenal time of year full of blessings! Undoubtedly, we are busier than normal. I was just thinking as I was rushing from place to place that I want some time for God where I reflect on all the true wonders of Christmas. I need to stop too and take it all in! Sure, I’m busy but I’m determined to be happy!! I desire to smile and goof around and laugh and do for others and let the light shine. I got a little taste of it last week at a 5K run where everyone seemed happier and upbeat! I also sense it in the incredible Christmas songs about Christ. All I’m saying is that a Savior was born and we have so much to be thankful for! Joy to the world! Rejoice!! Have a great weekend all ~~ Bill
God’s Mission

1:21 – Born is the King (It’s Christmas), 4:38 – Emmanuel, 9:08 – Noel, 13:25 – Announcements/Prayer for Others/Offering, 21:00 – Word of God Speak, 25:29 – Scripture Reading, 26:40 – Love Come Down, 30:15 – Sermon
Pastor Bill McMinn uses the story of Zechariah in Luke chapter 1 to teach us how God’s Mission is still being accomplished today in our lives. Here are just a few of the points that he goes over:
– God wants to reconnect the individual with Himself
– God wants to restore the home
– God wants to reform bad thinking
The challenge for all of us is to restore broken relationships!

Worship Minute: Emmanuel

Worship Minute: “…You shall call Him, Emmanuel. Which means, God with us.” The Advent season is upon us, which helps us to reflect upon the “arrival”, or Advent, of Jesus onto the earth. This is my favorite theme (idea, or point of reflection) in the Christmas season. I love songs that give us a way to express our gratitude to the Lord for making His dwelling among us (e.g. Emmanuel by Laura Story [which we will be singing this Sunday!], Joy to the World, O Come O Come Emmanuel by Lincoln Brewster, etc.)! He came to give us; hope, peace, joy, and love (the themes for each of the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas in Advent), and I hope and pray that we are all experiencing these gifts from our Savior in our lives. Worship Him today for coming to be with us and to provide salvation for us by forgiving all of our sins! He is worthy. ~ Mark
Marriage Minute: Slow to React

James 1:19 reminds us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. It’s fantastic advice but are we living by it? I have been the exact opposite of this verse, at times. I’m not listening but quickly firing back or just reacting anyway. You can so quickly fire off a reactionary text or email or comment that you didn’t think through or even pray about first. Let’s slow it on down friends! Have you actually listened? Have you asked questions in an attempt to understand? Or, have you quickly jumped to conclusions? Do we cut people off before they can fully communicate a sentence? I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to react emotionally to something and jabber on about it. First question we should ask before reacting is, “Did I listen?” Another question is, “Should I be saying what I’m about to say”? A third is, “Am I angry”? Because if you are, you really need to step back. I’ve been guilty of reacting too quickly to things that irk me! And it’s not good for those listening and can easily create unnecessary problems. Let’s be patient in our relationships and care for each other enough to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. Have a great weekend all! ~~ Bill
It’s Time: Hope for a deceitful and desperately sick heart

Christmas is a time of great hope for all of humanity! Hope because a Savior has been born to save us from ourselves. Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Well, Jesus understands and it is why He came to take on flesh and die on the cross, so God and sinner could be reconciled! I pray you have this hope today. Merry Christmas and peace to you!
Writing Your Story

0:01 – Angels from the Realm of Glory, 3:57 – The First Noel , 7:49 – What a Beautiful Name, 11:50 – O Little Town of Bethlehem, 16:14 – All Creation Sing (Joy to the World), 21:53 – Sermon
Pastor Bill McMinn looks at the story of Zechariah out of Luke chapter 1, and helps us understand the important factors involved in writing our story. Here are some of the points that he discusses:
– We need to realize that we do not have control over everything in our life story.
– Fill in the blank pages of your life story with great stuff.

It’s Time: “with thanksgiving”; Philippians 4:6-7

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I love this time of year as we go from Thanksgiving and into the Christmas season. And I realize for some, this may not be such a joyous season. However, through Jesus Christ, there is encouragement for us all and truly reason to be thankful and full of joy. Along with a confidence, that because of His love, we all have much to be thankful!
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV84)
