Hope in God
“Hope in God…”
Three times in Psalm 42:5, 11 and 43:5, David asks this question, “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me?”
King David knew, I know, and I know many people I’ve spoken to realize the struggles in life can affect our thinking and cut deep into our souls. And sometimes our thinking may lead to hopelessness and even depression. We may believe we are powerless to escape our circumstances.
However, we don’t have believe the lies, we need to recognize it for what it is and remember David’s encouragement to himself and to us. In the second half of those three verses, David gets the perspective right and says, “Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”
When our minds want to torment our souls, never stop hoping in the one true God who loves eternally…
Marriage Minute Don’t Be Contentious
My wife helped me to do the radio show Christian Country Mornings this week. One of the verses was that it’s better to live on the corner of a rooftop than with a contentious woman. I had some fun with that verse!! I’m fortunate in that she’s not alway fighting me or picking up on something I’m not doing or nagging me. It wouldn’t be fun. Fighting and arguing isn’t fun, so why do it? It takes too much emotional energy to be constantly bickering. Stop it! You don’t have to raise your voice. You don’t have to yell. You don’t have to point out every flaw. You don’t have to voice all of your displeasures. We want our home to be a place of happiness and fun! And that’s up to us! We’re steering the boat so where do you want to go? Into every iceberg or to a sunny beach? Your call! But let’s do our best to live at peace:) You all have a fantastic weekend ~~ Bill
