CHALLENGE: Value All Human Life

A. LIFE IS A PRECIOUS GIFT
Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.God made the universe. God made earth. God made you. This is a profound statement and necessary to truly understanding life. God put us here and since He did, there’s a reason for it! Your life has purpose! You’re created by God and intended to be here. For one, we’re to manage this world and take care of it. To multiply and fill the earth.
Genesis 1:28 – “God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Let’s note that he’s not the coffin and the death. Jesus is associated with life. John 14:6 – Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
2 Corinthians 5:4-5 – For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
Acts 14:17 – “Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”
John 10:10 says that Jesus came to give us LIFE and give it to the full! Life is amazing, plant life to sunsets.
1 Timothy 6:17 – Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. God has given us things for our enjoyment.
Ecclesiastes 3:12 – I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
Ecclesiastes 9:9 – Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under thesun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.

B. LIFE HAS IMMENSE VALUE
Genesis 1:26 – Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
You were made in the image of God and this is what sets you apart from the animals. You have intellect, emotion, and will. Because of this, you can relate to God. It makes you a person and this divine spark within gives you incredible value.
Genesis 9:6 – “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed;for in the image of God has God made mankind.” Life is sacred and make no bones about it. The reason you cannot kill is because humans are in God’s image. You cannot take another’s life away from them – it’s forbidden. Have we forgotten how truly and immensely valuable it is?
Exodus 20:13 – “You shall not murder. That’s one of the 10 Commandments and abortion violates that. Thus, you can’t do it. Not a choice you have. God repeatedly condemns violence. When Cain killed Abel, the Bible says that the blood cried out from the ground and Cain had to bear the punishment for what he had done. Why, he took an innocent person’s life. How can you get more innocent than a child in the womb?
Jeremiah 7:31 – They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of Ben Hinnom to burn their sons and daughters in the fire—something I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.

C. LIFE STARTS AT CONCEPTION
Isaiah 44:2 – This is what the Lord says—he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you:Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant,Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
Isaiah 49:5 – And now the Lord says—he who formed me in the womb to be his servantto bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength—
Jeremiah 1:5 -“Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 139:13-14 -For you created my inmost being;you knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
That’s why I pro life. That’s why I’m voting no on Issue 1! There is no right to take a life.

Conviction

READ: John 16:8
CHALLENGE: Get Some Conviction.

16:7 – But very truly I tell you, it is for you good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
v.8 – When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment.
Let’s talk about this major role of the Holy Spirit. He convicts. Perhaps when you think of the word conviction, you think about a court case where someone is found guilty. They are indicted, tried, and if the evidence is beyond a shadow of doubt, they are convicted by a jury of their peers and then sentenced. In this case, the word is used of the Holy Spirit convincing us about the topics of wrong, right, and judgment. The NIV translates this as “prove wrong about”. The ESV and CSB and NLT say “convict”. To convict means “to expose, to cross-examine for the ”. It can also mean to “blame, convict, punish”. It can be used of divine correction and punishment for the purpose of improvement. It’s often used of rebuke and correction. He’s shining the light on our sin so we can snap out of denial and get it.

A. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS ABOUT SIN

Hebrews 12:12-15 – See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. as you did in the rebellion.” Believe in Jesus. Don’t harden your heart.

B. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS ABOUT RIGHTEOUSNESS
V10 – about righteousness,; Righteousness means to do what’s right in accordance with the standard set by God.

C. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS ABOUT JUDGMENT

(v11) V11 – and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

John 12:31 – Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.

John 14:30 – I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world, Satan has no hold over Jesus at all. He has no hold or power over you either. You’re free.

Hebrews 2:14-15 – Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Colossians 1:13 – For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 9:27 – Just as people are destined to die once,, There is a coming judgment. There is accountability. The Judgment Seat of Christ is for believers. The Great White Throne judgment for those who did not know Jesus.

Hebrews 10:31 says it’s a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

John 3:36 – Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,.

Trust in Gods Power to Deliver

Trust in God’s Power to Deliver
Pastor Mark Hostetler
Challenge: Stand Firm and Watch the Deliverance of our God!

Introduction In today’s message we will be discussing the story of how the Israelites were delivered from the Egyptians and seen God do an amazing miracle by parting the Red Sea, but how they almost missed it because of their fear, their desire to remain in Egypt, and their mistrust of God’s delivering power! We will begin in several different sections of Scripture to give a sort of 50,000 ft overview of this story of deliverance , but it is my intention to land the plane on an incredible passage found in Exodus 14:13-14.

Acts 7:6–7 (NIV)God spoke to (Abraham) in this way: ‘For four hundred years your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated. But I will punish the nation they serve as slaves,’ God said, ‘and afterward they will come out of that country and worship me in this place.

Acts 7:17 ““But as the time drew near for God to fulfill the promise he had declared to Abraham,…”

Exodus 2:25 NIV “So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.”

Exodus 3:7 NIVThe Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.Catch the heart of God here folks.

Exodus 14:13-14.Exodus 14:13–14 NIV “Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. 2 Timothy 1:7 NET 2nd ed. “For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control”

Exodus 14:11–12 NET 2nd ed. “and they said to Moses, “Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Isn’t this what we told you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone so that we can serve the Egyptians, because it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!’ ”

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NET 2nd ed.)“So….whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.”
Exodus 14:13 (NET 2nd ed.)Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand firm…”

James 4:7 NET 2nd ed. “So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

Exodus 14:25 (NET 2nd ed.)“…the Egyptians said, “Let’s flee from Israel, for the Lord fights for them against Egypt!”

Daniel 3:17–18 (NIV)If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
