Overwhelming feelings of joy can be a response to the success after a hard struggle or the answer to a prayer. David, in this case, expressed his gratitude in praise to God who had saved him from the clutches of his enemies that threatened his life, and, specifically, from the hands of Saul!
David expressed his grateful praise to God who had shown him mercy time after time. He was prompted to sing his confession because he loved God (verse 2).
Recalling God’s experiences and actions in his life, David expressed very well his recognition of God’s Greatness and Goodness towards him.
David praises God’s Deeds using five military symbols: God is a “Rock”, which is unshakable; a “Fortress”, which is safe and cannot be detected by the enemy; a “Shield”, which is a barrier from danger; a “Horn of Salvation” and a high “Fortress” that cannot be reached by the enemy. God is the True Guarantee for King David.
I don’t know how heavy your struggle or burden is right now, but rest assured, only God is the Right Person for you to complain to, depend on, and get help from, for all your current struggles.
Maybe you find it difficult, even impossible, to trust God, because of the severity of your struggles. Even though David was a King, he was fully aware that God was the King over his life, his profession, and the kingdom he led—God was fully Sovereign over all of these things.
Let’s make Lent a starting point of repentance and a full turn to God. Only in God can we have a guarantee of true help for every life problem we face, especially problems of Eternal Life. God can give us and guarantee Eternity, let alone the temporary things we need. God always provides a way out and guarantees the best way for each of our struggles. Blessed be the Lord Jesus, His Faithful Love endures forever!
In line with David’s experience, I experienced Cancer twice. And if I try to look back, I can only express deep gratitude to Him. He is a Loving God who cares about our lives. Trust Him!
Prayer:
I love You, Lord, my Strength. You are my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge, my Shield and the Horn of my Salvation, my Stronghold. Amen.
“I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.”

When I can keep an attitude of gratitude and focus on my blessings I can get through anything. And God has shown me over and over that each valley I am in and the struggles all have a purpose and they grow me and I am stronger in my faith and am closer to him when I climb the mountain in life. Some days just can be thankful for the air I breath but it is something. So be blessed and have an attitude of gratitude and always give thanks to God the Father.❤️🙏😃
I too have had two different types of cancer and God has brought me through. I am grateful and praise Him for every day.
