A.GOD EMPOWERS JESUS

v10 – Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

Colossians 2:9 – For in Christ all the fullness,

1.A God Connection Means GUIDANCE

Hebrews 1:2-3 – but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

2.A God Connection Gives Us PURPOSE

V13 – And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

3.A God Connection Gave Him POWER

V10b-11 – it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least

1 Peter 4:11 – If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. This is a key to God’s working as we will see. V12 – Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

B. THE HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERS US

Vv15-17 – “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—[c] in you. (trans.) How do we experience the Spirit’s power?

1.Live by the Commandments of Jesus
2.Jesus will Send the Spirit of Truth

a. The Spirit is an Advocate
b. He’s the Spirit of Truth
