We are told in the Bible to leave our parents and cling to each other. That’s powerful at many levels. Certainly the husband and wife relationship is the priority relationship above all others. Most of us could easily agree to that but do we practice it? I have heard many stories over the years where one spouse or the other feels like they’re the bottom of the list as far as importance goes. The wife asks her husband to fix something and he doesn’t do it for months. His mother calls and has a leaky faucet and the world has to stop so he can get that repaired lol! What did he just communicate to his wife? She’s not as important! You might as well have written it in neon bright colors because anyone can see that one coming! Parents are important but pleasing your spouse is more important. It doesn’t have to be either/or but we need to make sure our partner feels like they are the most important to us. So listen, do what makes them happy, don’t leave them high and dry all the time while you pursue other interests, make time for them, and certainly never assume they’ll always be there no matter how you treat them. Make them your number one!! Have a great weekend ~~ Bill
