Marriage Minute: The Truth Will Set You Free

Jesus said that it’s the truth that sets you free, yet there are times when we hold tightly to lies. We have an arugment with our spouse and next thing you know it’s going to “I don’t measure up, I’m a terrible spouse, I’m not good enough, I’m not lovable”. None of it is true but we tell our selves this! Could it be that these thoughts don’t come from an argument you just had? Perhaps these lies are engrained deep within from old wounds? What’s the fix? Let’s go back to the truth of God’s love and how He made us for a purpose and how we’re all gifted and given an important role to play in this world. You are valuable! I’d rather build on the truth because we can’t build a solid relationship off ridiculous lies. We need to flush out the bad thoughts with the truth of God because the truth is, you all have great worth in HIs sight. We’ve been in a Bible study called “Fight Your Way to a Better Marriage” by Greg Smalley and he talks indepth about the lies we believe. It’s interesting and helpful so you might want to check it out! Have a great weekend!!

Worship Minute: Doxology

Worship Minute: I have been thinking alot about the Doxology and wanted to share with you what I hope will help in our understanding of the word. Doxology is a short hymn of praise to God. It comes from the Greek words Doxa (meaning glory, splendor, granduer) and Logos (meaning word, or speaking). So when we sing the Doxology together we are lifting up our voices with the intentions of singing/speaking words that declare the glory and splendor of God Almighty!! What a great way to worship our God. So, go and lift up your voice and glorify the Name of the Lord!! Have a great week! ~ Mark

It’s Time: “God loves a cheerful giver;” 2 Cor 9:6-7

In this month of Thanksgiving, grateful for the generosity of others. Operation Christmas Child will be a blessing once again to some child somewhere around the world! Lots of opportunities to bless someone else with our generosity in the coming weeks. Our motive is important to God, not the size of the gift, and God responds to us accordingly.

“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully[a] will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (ESV)

Marriage Minute Avoiding the “Coldrums”!

Any relationship can get icy, cold, and distant if there are hurts that have not been addressed. I assure you that this is not what God wants for your marriage! We’re supposed to be companions, friends, confidants, teammates, lovers. If you notice that your spouse is avoiding you, spending a lot of time elsewhere, doing their own thing all the time, uncommunicative, unaffectionate, or stone cold silent, there may be a reason. Perhaps there’s a hurt or bitterness or a constant thorn in your relationship that has never been pulled out. Never assume that distance is normal. Jesus said to settle matters quickly before it gets worse. The quicker you can stop these drifts, the less effort it takes to get back to the harbor of togetherness. Let’s work at functioning as a happily married couple living out some wedded bliss! Having our own way and winning arguments is not the end game – loving each other is! Have a great weekend all ~~ Bill

Worship Minute Tongue Power

Worship Minute: “”Death and life are in the power of the tongue,..”Prov.18:21. What we say matters!! The tongue is a very powerful tool and we should pay close attention to how we use it. We can either encourage and inspire others or tear them down with it. We use our tongue to lift up praises to the Lord and curse other people – this should not be so (as it says in James chapter 3). Let’s be a people that use our tongues to communicate life to others and to lift up unhypocritical praises to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! Have a blessed week ~ Mark

It’s Time; Submitting to real hope – Psalm 31:5

I love the Browns and have always been a fan and have always hoped in that elusive Super Bowl victory! But my real hope for this life isn’t contingent upon the success of my team, but in the Almighty God who has redeemed me and faithfully loved me. I submit myself to this God in faith…

Simply, Love

Worship Minute – Gathering Together

Worship Minute: “Let us not give up meeting together..” Hebrews 10:25(a). There are so many benefits to being connected to a community of believers who are like-minded and growing together in their Christian experience! We encourage and inspire each other, we hold each other accountable, and we remind each other of the goodness and faithfulness of God when facing trials of all different sorts. We “spur one another on toward love and good deeds”, as it says in verse 24. So if you are not part of a group of people (aside from the normal Sunday morning church) that are meeting together throughout the week, please consider doing this as a way to enhance your worshipful lifestyle and your Christian experience! Have a great week ~ Mark
